This powerful youth-led film and educational toolkit explores the harms of illegal money lending โ€” often known as loan sharks.

We were proud to lead this project, which premiered on Tuesday at Carnegie Hall. Created in and around Dunfermline with 12 local young people, it helps raise awareness and supports prevention through education.

As lead partner, Kingdom Community Bank brought together a wide range of organisations to make this happen. Weโ€™re grateful for the collaboration and proud to now share the film and toolkit.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Explore the film, learn about the partners involved, watch and access the full toolkit here: https://www.kingdomcb.org.uk/tapped.asp

๐Ÿ‘ A huge thank you to all the young people and partners involved โ€” you should be incredibly proud of what youโ€™ve achieved.

This weekend marks 100 years since the birth of internationally famous ballerina Moira Shearer and we're displaying some dazzling images of her in the Reading Room to mark the occasion.

Moira was born at Morton Lodge in Dunfermline where she spent her early childhood before moving to Africa with her family. She took her first ballet lessons there and carried on her ballet training when the family returned to Scotland in 1936. Aged just 22 Moira achieved worldwide celebrity as the ballerina heroine of the film The Red Shoes, introducing ballet to a huge new audience. She was also a principal dancer with Sadler's Wells Ballet and danced many leading roles at the Royal Opera House.

You can read more about Moira Shearer in our musuem where she's featured on the Dunfermline People Wall, a celebration of some of the town's most famous and well-loved people. There are also more detailed biographies in our local studies collection.
