Exciting film news! 🥳 🎬 📢

We’re beyond excited to be collaborating with Samizdat Eastern European Film Festival in presenting their first-ever screening in Dunfermline!

It's a Halloween special of a landmark of Polish cinema, 'Mother Joan of the Angels' – an austere religious horror that follows a priest sent to a remote 17th-century convent following reports of demonic possession.

🌟 This screening will be preceded by a short in-person welcome and a pre-recorded introduction.

Only 4️⃣ days to go until our Remembering Moira Shearer event at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries.

Following the successful Red Shoes Festival earlier this summer, this follow up event, held in conjunction with Dunfermline Carnegie Library, will be a day of remembering Moira Shearer through dance, music, archive material and family memories.

This photograph shows 'Barum House' beside the Public Park in Dunfermline before the later construction of two primary schools, St Margaret's and Commercial, in the field on the right.
Originally called 'Morton Lodge' it was the home of the architect James Shearer and also the famous ballerina Moira Shearer.
There will be a full day event in Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries on Saturday 26th September with two of Moira Shearer's daughters taking part. The event is free and just needs reserved, with details available on how to do that available on this link:

We’re delighted to collaborate with with Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries on this event!

To top off the successful Red Shoes Festival organised last month by Peacock Cinema, we'll be hosting a Special Bonus Event. Join us in the Canmore Room on Saturday 26 September for a day of dance, music, archive material and family memories, all to celebrate the life of Moira Shearer. The event is free, but you'll need to reserve a ticket in advance. This can ONLY be done on our website, www.onfife.com.

The programme for the day looks like this -

11am-1pm:
➡️ Dance display by local children.
➡️ How Moira Shearer inspired me to become an actress, by Jane Howie.
➡️ The Red Shoes, a song written and performed by a student from Fife College.
➡️ How Moira’s uncle James Shearer designed the Canmore Room, the 1920s Dunfermline Carnegie library extension, a short talk by Sharron McColl.
➡️ An introduction to and chance to view the Moira Shearer Archive at the Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries. An extensive archive of Moira Shearer memorabilia recently donated by Dai Williams of the Moira Shearer blog. Also available to view during lunch.

1-2pm:
➡️ LUNCH

2-3:30pm:
➡️ Memories of our mother - Ailsa and Alistair Kennedy. Meet two of Moira’s children hear their perspective on their mother’s life and career and share any of your own memories of Moira.
