“Get Gwynne Out” – Protesters continued call for suspended MP to resign.

Dozens of campaigners gathered outside Dukinfield Town Hall this evening in a renewed call for shamed MP Andrew Gwynne to quit his job.

Protesters staged the rally outside Dukinfield town hall at the same time as the full council meeting.

Offensive messages from the WhatsApp group ‘TriggerMeTimbers’ were leaked to the national press and sparked outrage amongst the public.

Gwynne, who was apart of the scandal, was stripped of his health ministerial role and suspended from the Labour Party, but he does still hold the position of constituency MP as an independent councillor for Denton and Gorton.

They also called on local councillors caught up in the ‘TriggerMeTimbers’ WhatsApp scandal to step down too and allow the town to move on.

Tony Moran, a Denton resident joined the campaigners.

He told the Reporter: “We've had thousands upon thousands of comments on Facebook. People are absolutely bitter, annoyed, and disgusted, and that is where I can come from.

“I feel disgusted and let down by the very people I elected to look after my interests and everybody else's interest, but they betrayed me. So that's why we're here today.”

Ten Labour borough councillors were also suspended from the party pending the internal investigation, but remain as serving councillors, sitting as independents.

The protesters organised the peaceful protest to ‘exercise their right to demonstrate their disgust’.

🤒 So I’m in London this weekend for a series of medical scans and assessments due to my ongoing ill-health… first one is at Charing Cross Hospital. 🏥

Well logic would suggest it’s somewhere near to Charing Cross, yep?

📱Well it’s a good job I Googled it… it’s nowhere near; It’s actually in Fulham, 5 miles away! Go figure!?! 🤷🏻

—o0o—

I’d better check that tomorrow’s MRI which is at the Wembley Community Diagnostics Centre IS actually in Wembley! 🗺️

—o0o—

I’ll also be glad when they eventually transfer all this care closer to where I actually live: Manchester!

𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟓… where have the years gone? You ask
Let me tell you in the end we are all judged on what we achieved for our communities not a legacy of 20years smoke and Mirror folly making out how you see yourself self righteous narcissists the fact that you fail to see your offensive contribution to WhatsApp Trigger me Timbers group. is worrying
You continue to remove to comment option on your page the more votes see you In denial

Through Rose coloured glasses if I remember Andrew
The year Girls Aloud won Popstars the rivals, the year London secured the 2012 Olympic Games and suffered the terrible 7/7 terror attacks by Al Qaeda. It was the year Doctor Who made a return to our TV screens, and didn’t Apple Macs look funky?

It was also the year of the 2005 General Election, where Tony Blair won his historic third term on a message of taking Britain forward, not back.

It was also the first of the six General Elections I’ve fought and won in Denton & Reddish and then *Gorton & Denton:

🔴 2005, Labour majority: 13,498
🔴 2010, Labour majority: 9,831
🔴 2015, Labour majority: 10,511
🔴 2017, Labour majority: 14,077
🔴 2019, Labour majority: 6,175
🔴 2024*, Labour majority: 13,413

To those who’ve supported me throughout, thank you 🙏🏻 I’ve always tried to do my best by all the communities I’ve represented, and your support and friendship has kept me going through the good times and the bad.

To those who’ve never supported me, or used to, I hope you can at least recognise I’ve tried to be a good MP. I haven’t got everything right and I’ve made mistakes, but I’ve always put this area first in everything I’ve done in Parliament.

And to those I’ve upset, hurt or offended, I’m genuinely really very sorry. 😔
