Seznamte se s berlínskými architekty! 🏘️🫂 (ENG below)

Studio IFUB* založili architekti Johannes Krohne a Bernhard Kurz v roce 2012. Jejich tvorba získala řadu ocenění, například Heinze Architektur Award 2025 a cenu Goldenes Haus 2021. Oba zakladatelé jsou absolventy Technické univerzity v Mnichově (TUM) a členy Komory architektů.

Krohne mimo jiné studoval i na TU Delft. Specializuje se na rozvoj nových typologií a bydlení se zaměřením na střídmost a flexibilitu. Kurz, který v průběhu svého studia jel na Erasmus do Školy architektury a designu v Oslu, se zaměřuje na stávající zástavbu a památkovou péči. V posledních letech se také věnuje oblasti cirkulární výstavby.

Meet the Berlin architects! 🏘️🫂

Studio IFUB* was founded by architects Johannes Krohne and Bernhard Kurz in 2012. Their work has received numerous awards, including the Heinze Architektur Award 2025 and the Goldenes Haus Award 2021. Both founders are graduates of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and members of the Chamber of Architects.

Krohne also studied at TU Delft, among other institutions. He specializes in developing new typologies and housing concepts with a focus on modesty and flexibility. Kurz, who had an Erasmus scholarship at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design during his studies, focuses on existing buildings and heritage conservation. In recent years, he has also been engaged in the field of circular construction.

Jak se staví v Berlíně? 🏘️🫂 (ENG below)

Jednou z výhod modelu Baugruppe je to, že se obyvatelé podílí na návrhu bytů od samého počátku. U projektu Baugruppe D2 si tak budoucí rezidenti mohli vybrat i materiál stropu, podlahové krytiny a typ dlažby.

Projekt vznikl na komplikovaném úzkém pozemku v berlínské čtvrti Neukölln, kde byla potřeba využít každý metr čtvereční. Architekti ze studia IFUB* zde navrhli flexibilní řešení, které se dokáže přizpůsobit proměňujícím se potřebám obyvatel. Byty v přední budově je totiž možné propojit či rozdělit.

Zeleň prostupuje rozlehlým dvorem a díky absenci podzemních garáží mohl vzniknout společný venkonvní prostor pro obyvatele domu. Baugruppe D2 je výborným příkladem současného městského bydlení založeného nejen na kvalitě života, ale i udržitelnosti.

How do people build in Berlin? 🏘️🫂

One of the advantages of the Baugruppe model is that residents take part in the design process from the very beginning. In the Baugruppe D2 project, future residents were even able to choose the ceiling materials, flooring, and types of tiles.

The project was created on a challenging narrow plot in Berlin’s Neukölln district, where every square meter had to be used efficiently. Architects from the IFUB* studio designed a flexible solution that can adapt to the changing needs of its residents. Apartments in the front building can be connected or divided as needed.

Greenery flows through the spacious courtyard, and thanks to the absence of underground garages, a shared outdoor space for the residents was created. Baugruppe D2 is an excellent example of contemporary urban housing focused not only on quality of life, but also on sustainability.

What’s an Archievening? ⚫️🍿

As the name suggests, Archievening is an evening dedicated to architecture. It combines curated lectures with screenings of thematically related films.

In May, following a lecture by the Swiss studio Müller Sigrist Architekten, you could watch the film “Brunaupark”, which traced the complex fate of a housing estate in Zurich.

In June, you can look forward to the documentary “Women of the Bauhaus”, which will follow a lecture by the Berlin–Munich studio IFUB*.

Archievenings will continue in the autumn as well. October’s lecture on Helsinki will be followed by a screening as part of the Film and Architecture Festival.

Archievening is a unique way to broaden your horizons after a lecture. That is why we recommend extending your Thursday night and staying a few hours longer.

Poznejte německou architekturu! 🏘️🫂 (ENG BELOW)

Studio IFUB* se zabývá otázkou bydlení již od svého počátku. Projekty navrhuje ekologicky, střídmě a s ohledem na budoucí generace. Aktivně pracuje s modelem Baugruppen (tzv. stavební skupiny), kdy několik známých spojí síly a finance, aby si postavili vlastní obytný dům. Baugruppen kombinuje soukromé vlastnictví s výhodami bytového družstva a aktivně zapojuje své budoucí rezidenty do celého procesu.

Na berlínském příkladu Baugruppe D2 zakladatelé poukáží nejen na výhody modelu, ale i na výzvy, kterým v Německu čelí. Na čtvrti Angler-Heimeran v Mnichově zas představí potenciál státních bytových sdružení.

Studio IFUB* has focused on housing since its very beginning. Their projects are designed sustainably, modestly, and with future generations in mind. The studio actively works with the Baugruppe model (so-called building groups), in which several people join forces and finances to build their own residential building together. Baugruppe combines private ownership with the advantages of a housing cooperative and actively involves future residents throughout the entire process.

Using the Berlin-based Baugruppe D2 as an example, the founders will highlight not only the benefits of this model, but also the challenges it currently faces in Germany. They will also present the potential of state housing associations through the Angler-Heimeran district project in Munich.

O svém přístupu k architektuře a designu budou hovořit architekti a zakladatelé oceňovaného berlínského studia IFUB* Bernhard Kurz a Johannes Krohne. Přednáška „Stavět společně, stavět lépe“ se odehraje ve čtvrtek 4. června v 19 hodin v kině Světozor. Odborný úvod povede architektka a šéfredaktorka časopisu www.EARCH.cz, Karolína Vránková.

Architects and founders of the award-winning Berlin-based studio IFUB*, Bernhard Kurz and Johannes Krohne, will speak about their approach to architecture and design. The lecture “Building Together, Building Better” will take place on Thursday, June 4 at 7 PM at Světozor Cinema. The expert introduction will be given by architect and editor-in-chief of EARCH.CZ magazine, Karolína Vránková.

The lecture will be followed by a screening of “The Women of the Bauhaus”.

“How can we convert this atmosphere of antiseptic living into a liveable habitat?” architekt Pascal Müller o rekonstrukci nemocnice Felixe Plattera v Basileji. 🇨🇭✨

Minulý týden proběhla další přednáška spolku Kruh z cyklu „Dostupné bydlení”. Z Curychu přiletěl architekt Pascal Müller, zakladatel vyhlášeného studia Müller Sigrist Architekten.

Krom přeměny nemocnice na sdílený obytný prostor hovořil také o multifunkčním komplexu Kalkbreite, který vznikl nad curyšskou tramvajovou vozovnou. Popsal i tvorbu projektu „Mehr als Wohnen”, kde několik architektonických studií spojilo síly a vytvořilo z brownfieldu na okraji města inovativní čtvrť. Jedním z hlavních témat večera bylo družstevní bydlení a jeho specifika. 🚦🏢

Přednášku uvedl urbanista David Kostenwein, který zastupoval výzkumný tým SPUR (Spatial Development and Urban Policy). Jeho prezentace se soustředila na curyšskou bytovou krizi, která přiblížila divákům a divačkám současnou situaci v zemi.

Po přednášce následovala projekce filmu „Brunaupark” v rámci akce Archivečer. 🤩🎥

“How can we convert this atmosphere of antiseptic living into a liveable habitat?” architect Pascal Müller on the reconstruction of the Felix Platter Hospital in Basel. 🇨🇭✨

In addition to discussing the transformation of a hospital into a shared living space, he also spoke about the multifunctional Kalkbreite complex, built above a tram depot in Zurich. He also described the development of the “Mehr als Wohnen” project, in which several architectural studios joined forces to transform a brownfield site on the outskirts of the city into an innovative urban district. One of the evening’s main themes was cooperative housing and its specific characteristics. 🚦🏢

The lecture was introduced by urban planner David Kostenwein, representing the research team SPUR. His presentation focused on the housing crisis in Zurich and offered the audience insight into the country’s current situation.

The lecture was followed by a screening of the film Brunaupark as part of the Archivevening event. 🤩🎥

Objevte švýcarskou architekturu! 🏘️🇨🇭

Architekt Pascal Müller je absolventem fakulty architektury ETH Zürich. Má zkušenosti z Berlína i Irska a působil jako hostující profesor na HEPIA v Ženevě a na BFH v Bernu. Pravidelně také zasedává v porotách mezinárodních architektonických soutěží.

V roce 2001 založil studio Müller Sigrist Architekten spolu s Peterem Sigristem. Jejich realizace hledají cesty, jak udržitelným a perspektivním způsobem propojit bydlení s komerčními i komunitními funkcemi. S návratem kolektivity, sdílené ekonomiky a participace v architektuře ve Švýcarsku se jejich studiu otevírají nové možnosti pro tvorbu dostupného bydlení. 🏢🚦

Discover Swiss architecture! 🏘️🇨🇭

Architect Pascal Müller is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at ETH Zürich. He has professional experience from Berlin and Ireland, and has served as a visiting professor at HEPIA in Geneva and at Bern University of Applied Sciences in Bern. He also regularly sits on juries for international architectural competitions.

In 2001, he co-founded the studio Müller Sigrist Architekten together with Peter Sigrist. Their projects explore ways to sustainably and forward-thinkingly connect housing with commercial and community functions. With the return of collectivity, the sharing economy, and participatory approaches in Swiss architecture, new opportunities are opening up for their studio to create affordable housing. 🏢🚦
