A BIT ABOUT THE POP SHOP...
The Pop Shop is located in the West End of Ottawa. We are a small but mighty operation, selecting just 25 students a year to participate in our part-time or full-time programs. Giving back to the community is very important to the Pop Shop. With their ''Kids Kindness Calendar', the All-Stars try to do one good deed or performance monthly. Over the years, they have coll
ected toys and food for animals, hosted a canned food drive, baked cupcakes, made dry-good winter snack bags, and of course performed for several groups of our vulnerable neighbours, and community friends. The all-girl All-Star team can be booked by emailing [email protected] with event details. All Pop Shop students perform at two annual showcases, and record two friends & family CD's each year. The All-Star team also takes an annual tour to perform and take class. Past performances include shows for the Harbourfront Centre and Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, the Montreal Fashion and Design Festival and the Walk to End Women’s Cancer in Montreal, the Grand Old Opry and Graceland in Memphis, and Central Park, Times Square and Carlos Bakery in NYC and NJ. Former students have gone on to enjoy careers in stage, music, television and film including Katie Bernard (American Idol Top 100, several network television appearances, recording artist with album on iTunes) and Stephanie La Rochelle, (runner up on CBC's Over The Rainbow, appeared on Heartland, single on iTunes, lead actress in Lifetime movie). Come and sing and dance and have a blast with the, often imitated but never duplicated, Pop Shop Performing Arts Academy!
