This coming Monday - CHI's summer movie series continues with a re-screening of the sold out documentary "Salmon Secrets" from HerringFest, welcoming back K̓wak̓waba̱las - Chief Ernest Alfred, traditional and elected leader of the 'Na̱mg̱is First Nation (Alert Bay) for live updates on the fight to rid our waters of salmon farms.

Part of CHI’s summer ecological film series presented in partnership with Central Cinema Hornby. Melanda will host a CHI Q&A immediately after the screening.

This is a three-part documentary exploring the entwined extinction threat facing iconic Southern Resident Killer Whales, and the Chinook salmon they prey on in Pacific Northwest waters. Bringing together scientific and Indigenous perspectives, these three short films invite viewers to imagine how traditional knowledge and contemporary methods might come together to help recover an iconic species.
