Leitmotif In doing so, the association aims to remove barriers, prejudices and stereotypes among people of different nationalities, ages and social status.

We aim to conceive innovative artistic projects with public varied in age, health status, socio-economic situation, cultural background - and to remove barriers, prejudices and stereotypes among people of different nationalities, ages and social status. The non-profit association aims to conceive, organise and/or carry out innovative artistic projects in the field of art, design, films, education

and research, whether or not in co-creation with other organisations or individuals. The association wants to reach a broad public in Flanders and beyond, both in terms of, but not limited to, age, socio-economic situation, cultural background, people with a handicap or living in underprivileged circumstances, and wants to play a bridging role between the various target groups. The concrete activities through which the non-profit association achieves its objectives include:
- Organising exhibitions, concerts, conferences and thematic workshops. To this end, the association can enter into partnerships with other associations, public authorities, individuals or companies at home and abroad
- The association can provide image and sound recordings and educational publications of said projects
- The association also participates in and encourages research in the field of heritage, museums, exhibitions, psychological aspects of the visitor experience (deepening, immersion), target groups and communication, both visual and verbal
- Psychological support and mental coaching for individuals, companies and organisations
- Activities in the field of mental healthcare, with the exception of psychiatric hospitals and nursing homes
- Education, training, instructional design
- Engagement of audio-visual techniques in educational and psychotherapeutic activities, workshops, coaching and support sessions in the field of mental health.

We’re excited to announce the launch of "Artistic Relations – A Map of Shared Places", an inspiring international collaboration between Leitmotif vzw (Belgium) and Chorzowskie Centrum Kultury (Poland)

The project has received funding from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage through the National Centre for Culture's SYNERGIE 2026 programme.

Together with our Polish partners, we will explore the shared values that connect communities in Belgium and Poland—such as neighbourhood, shared responsibility, and care for the common good—by reimagining the way we experience and use public spaces.

Today, the project officially kicked off with our first organisational meeting, bringing together partners and artists for an inspiring exchange of ideas. It was a fantastic start to what promises to be a meaningful creative journey.

In the coming months, residents of Chorzów will be invited to participate in workshops where they will map places that matter to them and co-create artistic installations. These works will be presented in five public locations across the city, celebrating local stories, collective memory, and community engagement.

We are proud to be part of this cross-border initiative and look forward to sharing the process, the conversations, and the artworks that emerge from this collaboration.

Artistic Relationships – samenwerking tussen Chorzów (Polen) en Leuven

Leitmotif vzw neemt deel aan het internationale project "Artistic Relationships - map of the common places" (“Artystyczne Relacje – mapa wspólnych miejsc”), in samenwerking met onze partnerorganisatie in Polen Chorzowskie Centrum Kultury.

Dit artistiek-sociaal project brengt bewoners samen rond de vraag: welke plekken, herinneringen en waarden verbinden ons? Door middel van gesprekken, workshops en artistieke interventies worden lokale verhalen zichtbaar gemaakt en vertaald naar installaties in de publieke ruimte.

Binnen dit traject engageren wij ons als organisatie om:

interculturele uitwisseling tussen België en Polen te versterken
ruimte te creëren voor diverse stemmen en ervaringen
kunst in te zetten als middel voor verbinding en participatie
bij te dragen aan een inclusieve samenleving waarin lokale verhalen gedeeld en gewaardeerd worden

De samenwerking met partners in Chorzów alsook in Leuven Polska Szkoła w Leuven im. W. Szymborskiej - Poolse School Leuven vzw maakt het mogelijk om ervaringen en perspectieven uit verschillende contexten samen te brengen. Zo bouwen we aan een gedeelde “kaart” van wat mensen verbindt, over grenzen heen.

Leitmotif vzw was op bezoek bij Wereldcafé COOP, waar we met veel plezier een bijzonder warm en verbindend moment mochten vastleggen: de Warme Tafel. Een plek waar ontmoeting centraal staat, waar verhalen samenkomen en waar diversiteit niet alleen aanwezig is, maar echt beleefd wordt.

Wij bij geloven sterk in (en steunen graag) dit soort initiatieven. Ze tonen hoe krachtig eenvoudige ontmoetingen kunnen zijn in het bouwen van een inclusieve samenleving.

Afgelopen weekend, op 14.03, vond in de Leuvense Schouwburg in Leuven de voorstelling Verhalen van 1001 Landen (2026) plaats — een bijzondere samenwerking tussen Stad Leuven en vele etnisch diverse organisaties, met een sterke betrokkenheid van mensen uit dit netwerk.

Binnen het overkoepelende thema chaos werd ruimte gemaakt voor persoonlijke verhalen en reflecties. Vanuit mijn bijdrage presenteerde ik zes getuigenissen, die de basis vormden voor een nieuw artistiek voorstel: een animatiecollage waarin chaos wordt benaderd als een kracht die ons soms richting minder evidente of minder juiste keuzes duwt — zonder labels, maar met een focus op de menselijke ervaring.

Tijdens dit moment ging ook de animatie Chaos in première.

Dank aan alle stemmen die dit project mee vorm hebben gegeven, aan Stad Leuven, Edo’s en aan Megafoon vzw, de organisatie die de interviews met de gedetineerden heeft verzorgd.

Catalogus Onbekende Oorlogsvrouw
Leuven Kerstmarkt Abdij van Park (°1129 door Godfried I met de Baard) The catalogue “De Onbekende Oorlogsvrouw – Vrede heeft vrouwen nodig” has been published. This publication of Iwona Pom is inspired by the monument “The Unknown Woman of War – Peace Needs Women”, a sculpture by Liliane Versluys located at Jeanne Devos Square behind Leuven railway station. The catalogue brings together hidden stories and visual material centered on female perspectives in wartime and invites reflection on memory, visibility, and history.

Vernissage van de tentoonstelling “De Onbekende Oorlogsvrouw”

In november 11.11.25 vond de vernissage plaats van de tentoonstelling van Iwona Pom rond de documentaire “De Onbekende Oorlogsvrouw”, in samenwerking met de Leuvense Vredesbeweging. De documentaire vertelt het verhaal van het ontstaan van het Leuvense standbeeld, ontworpen door kunstenares en advocate Liliane Versluys, en sluit aan bij de waarden die ook het Wereldcafé.coop uitdraagt: verbinding, solidariteit en ruimte voor diverse stemmen.

Op zondag 14 december zijn de fotocollages nogmaals te zien op de Kerstmarkt van Leuven, waar ook de catalogus verkrijgbaar zal zijn, hartelijk welkom!
