Costa Films Costa Films is a company producing, financing and distributing quality films from talented filmmakers around the world.

Based in Buenos Aires, the company’s initial focus was on Latin American cinema and gradually shifted to a broader spectrum of international projects. The first co-production, Jose Padilha’s Elite Squad, won the Golden Bear at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival. The Burning Plain, starred by Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger, exciting feature debut by Guillermo Arriaga (screenwriter of Amores Perros, 21

Grams and Babel), was part of the 2008 Venice Film Festival / Official Competition and won the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Emerging Actress. After getting an award from Instituto Luce (Italy), Costa Films co-produced The Artist, directed by 2010 Sundance Film Festival award-winners Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, and was chosen for the Official Selection at 2008 Rome International Film Festival. In 2010 Costa Films co-produced Lula, the Son of Brazil, film that reviews Luiz Inácio da Silva’s life showing how he managed to get where he is today. Currently, Costa Films is working in the post-production of Accursed Summer, based on the short story “Death of Midsummer”, by japanese writer Yukio Mishima, and directed by Luis Ortega. The last showcase of Costa Films is Darling, I´m going out for cigarettes and I´ll be right back, directed by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat. Besides, the company is developing Two/One, the first feature film to be directed by Juan Cabral.
